"Serenity" Project 2018
Over nine months we worked with an incredible group of people who suffered from drug and alcohol dependency. As part of their journey of recovery they regularly attended workshops in acting, voice and movement. This was followed by sessions in devising theatre, writing and directing. The result as a powerful performance piece named “Serenity” that was devised from material and improvisation produced by the drama group. The show was performed in front of hundreds of people during the Leicestershire recovery week, also within drug-treatment centres. The project sustained over 80% engagement with all participants noting they found the activities both enjoyable and helpful to their recovery. They also earned high praise from local services as well as the Police Crime Commissioner.
